Please note that the SC6 plenary approved a project split. The project on Password Policy has been subdivided to allow further work on Identity Management.
ITU-T - Geneva 16-25 September 2009
A collaborative Directory meeting between ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6/WG8 and Question 11 of ITU-T Study group 17 was conducted 16-23 September, 2009. The following is a short report on this meeting:
- A final check of the 6th edition of X.500 was performed just before publication. Some of documents were published at the end of the meeting (X.500, X.525 and X.530). The remaining document should be published during the week starting 28 September 2009. ISO will publish the document about 40 days later
- Extensive work was performed on the Password Policy working draft. Several comments were received on the list and dealt with. A new working draft was produced and will be forwarded to SC6 for PDAM registration.
- A first draft on X.500 Communications enhancement. This document will be ready after final editing.
- Defect Reports were discussed. New Draft Technical Corrigenda will not be issued before the sixth edition of X.500 has been published. However, the issues and possible resolutions are made available on our Web site.
The approved Action Plan includes:
- Progress defects and produce technical corrigenda.
- Progress the work on Password Policy for the Directory with the objective to include this in a future edition of X.500.
- Provide enhancement to X.500 communications support
- Follow the work on Biometric certificates.
- Provide guidance to relevant groups on the use of directories.
