ITU-T - Geneva 17 - 26 April 2013

A collaborative Directory meeting between ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6/WG8&WG9 and Question 11 of ITU-T Study group 17 was conducted 17 - 26 April 2013.

It was the first meeting in 2013-2016 ITU-T Study Period. The title of the group is now Generic technologies to support secure applications. In addition to Directories, incl. X.509, it also includes ASN.1 and Object Identifiers. We also we have the maintenance responsibility for old OSI and ODP Recommendations. More on our responsibilities may be found here.

The following is a short report on this meeting:

Highlight

• It was decided that X.509 should only hold specifications for PKI and PMI. Working draft amendments for X.509, X.511 and X.520 were drafted for this purpose.
• It was agreed that a new PKI component, a Trust Broker, should be include in X.509. The working draft amendment to X.509 has relevant specifications.
• A New Work Item on Certified Email was approved and an initial Working Draft was produced.
